Montreal Protocol OEWG48 Side Event | Moon-Tech Contributes Chinese Wisdom to Accelerating Sustainable Cooling Transformation in Developing Countries
Date:2026.08.04 Size

Recently, the 48th Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG48) of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was successfully held in Bangkok, Thailand. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Kigali Amendment, the meeting gathered representatives from Parties worldwide, international organizations, industry associations, and leading experts to focus on the low-carbon transformation of the refrigeration industry and explore pathways for high-quality green development of the global cooling sector.

During the meeting, Mr. Chen Wenqing, Chief Engineer of Moon-Tech Environment Technology Co., Ltd. and President of the Central Research Institute, and Mr. Zhang Quanquan, Director of the Refrigeration System Innovation Research Center of the Central Research Institute, were invited to attend the thematic sessions. They shared Moon-Tech’s innovative practices and proven experience in the green transition of refrigerants for commercial and industrial refrigeration applications, contributing Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the sustainable transformation of the refrigeration industry in developing countries.

At the “Consultation Meeting on Accelerating the Transition and Access of Developing Countries to Sustainable Cooling Technologies,” jointly organized by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) convened by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Mr. Chen Wenqing provided an in-depth interpretation of Moon-Tech’s international development strategy of “Advancing Toward the Ocean and Advancing Toward Green,” which is rooted in the company’s industrial foundation and commitment to sustainable development.

He also introduced Moon-Tech’s global market presence and multiple benchmark demonstration projects featuring natural refrigerants that have been successfully implemented and put into operation worldwide. The presentation comprehensively showcased the company’s advanced exploration, industrial achievements, and practical experience in areas including ultra-low GWP environmentally friendly refrigerant alternatives, high-efficiency and energy-saving refrigeration technologies, and the promotion of innovative sustainable cooling solutions.

At the “Side Event on Industry Efforts to Support Kigali Implementation and Sustainable Cooling in Developing Countries,” jointly organized by UNEP’s Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) and UNIDO, Mr. Zhang Quanquan delivered a technical presentation on Moon-Tech’s contributions to sustainable refrigeration development.

During the presentation, Mr. Zhang introduced Moon-Tech’s core technology system developed through years of dedication to green refrigeration. Leveraging multiple natural refrigerants, including ammonia (NH₃), carbon dioxide (CO₂), propane (R290), and water, Moon-Tech has established a comprehensive application technology system covering a wide range of temperature and pressure conditions.

Meanwhile, Moon-Tech has independently mastered key technologies for core components, including screw compressors, centrifugal compressors, and magnetic levitation high-temperature motors. The company has established a complete industrial ecosystem integrating core component R&D, complete system integration, and comprehensive performance testing, with independent full-chain capabilities from technology development to industrial implementation.

Relying on its independent core technology advantages, Moon-Tech integrates key technologies such as heat exchange, compression, energy storage, and power generation to build a coordinated multi-energy supply system combining cooling, heating, and electricity, delivering integrated green energy solutions.

Guided by the green development philosophy of “Expanding Cooling & Heating Boundaries, Empowering Innovation with Intelligence,” Moon-Tech is breaking through the limitations of traditional refrigeration applications and providing efficient and practical technological solutions for energy conservation, carbon reduction, and green transformation across the global refrigeration industry. Meanwhile, the company is contributing practical and feasible Chinese solutions to support the low-carbon upgrading of the refrigeration industry in developing countries.
