Recently, the China Energy Conservation Association organized a scientific and technological achievement evaluation meeting in Beijing for the “Indirect Working Fluid Heat Pump Distillation System for the Petrochemical Sector,” jointly completed by Moon-TECH Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd., Xi’an Jiaotong University, and other organizations.
The evaluation committee was composed of experts from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, Sinopec Science & Technology Department, Chinese Academy of Chemical Sciences, Beijing Technology and Business University, and other institutions, with Professor He Yaling from Xi’an Jiaotong University serving as the committee chair.
The committee carefully listened to the project team’s presentation, reviewed relevant technical documents, and conducted rigorous questioning and thorough discussions. After a comprehensive evaluation, the committee unanimously concluded that the project involves high technical difficulty and strong innovation, achieving an overall level comparable to international standards. Among the technologies, the R152a heat pump system, specialized high-efficiency oil-injected twin-screw compressor, and related technologies reached internationally leading levels. The committee agreed to approve the project for scientific and technological achievement evaluation. The project’s technology has already been industrially applied, receiving positive feedback from users, with significant economic and social benefits and promising prospects for wider adoption.
Moon-TECH will continue to collaborate with the China Energy Conservation Association and other industry organizations to promote energy-saving technological innovation, actively serve and integrate into the national green and low-carbon development strategy, support the transformation of advanced energy-saving technologies, contribute to achieving the “dual carbon” goals, and provide strong support for accelerating the clean and low-carbon transformation of energy use in the industrial sector.
The indirect heat pump distillation process has been officially put into operation at a refining enterprise. This technology recovers the condensation latent heat from the top of the distillation tower and, through the heat pump cycle, converts this heat into high-grade thermal energy supplied to the reboiler side of the tower for heating. This retrofit allows the enterprise to save over 40 million RMB annually while reducing CO₂ emissions by 79,530 tons.
Through innovative technologies, Moon-TECH achieves hierarchical energy recovery and efficient utilization, improving production energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, thereby providing strong support for the green transformation of industries such as petrochemicals and chemicals.
